Project Overview

Hill Top is a 17th-century farmhouse in Near Sawrey, famously purchased by Beatrix Potter and now cared for by the National Trust as a writer’s house museum, preserved to reflect the period of Potter’s life and work.

As part of ongoing conservation-led stewardship, the National Trust undertakes carefully planned maintenance and restoration works to protect the building and the visitor experience.

Conservation Context & Visitor Operation

The property is closed over winter for conservation, with the National Trust indicating a return to welcoming visitors in March 2026 (with communications referencing 9 March 2026 for reopening).

NPHS Delivery

NPHS has specified and delivered a small, highly targeted iCO water mist installation to protect the escape route, supporting life safety while helping to preserve the character of this sensitive historic environment.

With one pump feeding three mist nozzles across two rooms, the solution is designed to be discreet, efficient, and conservation-minded – aligned with the needs of heritage assets where limiting water impact and visual intrusion is critical.
